Where Artistry meets Entropy
Inherent vice: The tendency in physical objects to deteriorate because of the fundamental instability of the components of which they are made, as opposed to deterioration caused by external forces. All objects have some kind of inherent vice as a result of the baseline law of entropy.
There is beauty in entropy, whether it be from inherent vice or external forces. The oxidation that causes ferrous metals to 'rust' or non-ferrous metals to exhibit 'bronze disease'; the craquelure of an old painting; the changes in color, texture and appearance of wood exposed to the elements, etc.
Inherent Vice Studios seeks to capture these moments of transition that all objects and materials undergo and to celebrate them in the design of one of a kind works of fine art and commissioned work.
